YIPIRINYA SCHOOL
Alice Springs 2008-2018
Yipirinya School provides education from preschool to Year 9 for children living in Alice Springs’ 18 town camps. SDA worked with the school over a 10-year period to develop may facilities, with planning underpinned by a site masterplan.
SDA has provided pro-bono services to support the school in sourcing funding for capital works.
The masterplan mapped underground services, analysed existing use of space, developed safe and functional circulation for vehicles and pedestrians, and identified areas for future growth. An emphasis on the physical and mental health of students led to the development of a home economics room for promotion of good nutrition, and sporting facilities including an AFL oval, a swimming pool, and a multi-purpose indoor sports facility.
Over the 10-year period SDA managed the delivery of a family dining room and commercial kitchen, the expansion of the school library, a home economics room, a woodworking workshop, a computer room, a swimming pool, the fitout of the multipurpose sports hall, a staff facility, an upgrade of the administration building, a vehicle drop-off area, disabled access, associated landscaping and other related siteworks including a fire services upgrade.
