10 Sturt Terrace is a development of 7 two-storey townhouses located in the desirable old East Side suburb of Alice Springs. The project maximized the commercial return for the owner-developer through transforming an old single dwelling into contemporary medium density housing, and balancing economies in materials and construction with contemporary design and aspirations.
The units demonstrate key principals of environmentally sustainable design through passive solar orientation and increasing thermal performance to exceed building code requirements. A simple building shell is enhanced with features that balance outlook and views with privacy, provide an appealing aesthetic, and identify each unit clearly.
